We’re often asked: What is an Orangery? It’s a good question!

Dating back to the 17th century in renaissance gardens in Italy, Orangeries were once a symbol of wealth and affluence. As the name suggests, they were used to grow orange and other citrus trees by allowing sunlight to enter through the glass exterior. Today, modern Orangeries are often used to extend the home, much like conservatories but with a different structure and variations in architectural features.

Here at Orangeries UK, we design & manufacture bespoke Orangery extensions to fit your specifications. We combine luxurious designs with premium quality materials in order to always deliver the finest, highest quality products.

Orangery Types and Uses

Because Orangeries are so versatile, they can be used for virtually any purpose. In particular, they can be used to extend an existing space like a kitchen or living room or to create an entirely new space for dining, working or studying.

Are you looking to extend your kitchen? An Orangery can be used to either facilitate a new kitchen or to extend an existing kitchen.

If you are looking to extend your living room then an Orangery is the best way to do so. Conservatories offer equally good opportunities for extending a living room and living space in general.

By extending your dining room, you’ll not only create more space, but you’ll create an entirely new dining experience. An Orangery will allow you and guests to dine under natural sunlight or with an unobstructed view of the night sky.

Garden Orangeries or Garden Rooms are elegant and practical. Use your extra space for anything you might need, from sleeping quarters to a seperate area for hobbies or work.
